Technical Leaders¶
Abbreviation¶
TL = Technical Leader CC = Contributors Community SS = Supported Project
Description¶
Technical Leaders (TL) are any active member of the Contributors Community who volunteer to lead a specific cascading project or effort within the Project. The technical leadership is official after a public announcement and when listed in the related files under the Roles folder. By cascading project or effort is intended a specific feature development, a Supported Project or any specific effort, such as, but not limited to, documentation, web site maintenance, and UI/UX.
Responsibilities¶
TL's responsibilities are:
- providing strategic feedback to project leaders about their tasked area,
- leading the effort and the implementation needed to achieve the objectives established,
- managing activities necessary to achieve of objectives within their tasked area.
- work independently,
- be able to find adequate resources
- be confortable to ask for help if needed
- be able to report clearly and effectively the status of their sub-project to any interested party and stakeholder.
Eligibility¶
Any member of the Contributors Community (CC) can become a TL, given that he/she proves the required skills.
Nomination Process¶
A TL prospect is nominated through a public announcement on the official channels. The nomination for a TL position should follow the process described in the Nomination section. A TL is official after a winning an official election held during a Collaboration meeting (please see Voting).
The name of the TL must posted on the Project website and inserted in the related role file with the title of TL.
For supported project, the project repository should contain a file named GOVERNANCE.md listing the name of the offical TL and, possibly, the official maintainers
Posting Duration¶
There is no posting duration for TL. A TL can stay in his/her position as long as he/she is effective and productive in the context of the project
Resignation¶
An official TL can resign at any point from his leadership position by informing the Project Leaders (PL) and posting an official communication through the official Project channels.
Early Dismissal¶
A TL might be asked to leave his/hers leadership position following conflicts or leadership related issues. This event must follow the process described in the Member Dismissal section.
Effort¶
It should be clear that been a TL entails more responsibilities, requires more commitment and a higher level of effort.
