Description¶
Advisory Groups (AG) are temporary groups of domain experts called to provide expert feedback on specific issues. Advisors should be individuals with the proper knowledge and not involved with the Project.
Responsibilities¶
AG have the following responsibilities:
- listen carefully to the issue/topic they have been called to advise on
- provide requested feedback in the best suitable format
Management¶
AG can be formed by the Project Leaders (PL) or Technical Leaders (TL) upon official request by the Contributors Community (CC) or as they see fit in managing the Project or the effort that they are leading.
Membership¶
Any domain expert that is not directly involved with the specific effort or the Project is eligible to become a mebmber of an AG. Members can be proposed by proponents of the AG or by any of the stakeholders. Members should and need to be vetted by the Tehcnical Leaders (TL), Project Leaders (PL) or the Steering Committee (SC) depending who is the proponent of the AG, following the use cases highlighted below:
- if the AG is proposed to deliver on a specific supported project and it is not proposed by the supported project Technical Leaders, approval from the Technical Leaders of the supported project is required. if the AG is proposed to deliver on a specific supported project and it is proposed by the supported project Technical Leadership, approval from the Project Leaders is required.
- if the AG is proposed to deliver on the Core and it is not proposed by the Project Leaders, approval from the Project Leaders is required.
- if the AG is proposed to deliver on the Core and it is proposed by the Project Leaders, approval from the Steering Committee is required.
Duration¶
An Advisory Group activities should be limited in time and it should ends once they have submitted the requested feedback and their recommendations.
The Duration and the Objectives should be explicitly indicated at the time of the creation together with the members list.
Output¶
The feedback from an AG should be recorded in written format and be available to the community. It is responsibility of the individuals which requested advice of the AG to make sure the feedback is recorded and publicly available.
